What a unique experience it was to visit Dahab—a place where the desert meets the sea and worlds seem to blend seamlessly. Nestled against the Red Sea, with Saudi Arabia to the east and Israel only miles to the north, Dahab is a reminder of God’s vast creativity. The rugged mountains and golden sands roll down to meet the crystal-blue waves, creating a landscape that feels both ancient and alive.
Many people come here to experience the wonders of the Red Sea, renowned for its vibrant coral reefs and colorful marine life. Scuba divers and snorkelers gather, drawn by the allure of underwater beauty. But for my team and me, our purpose was different. We came to share a message of hope, kindness, and faith with a community that, while incredibly hospitable, has its own unique challenges and stories.
Walking through Dahab, we could feel the warmth of the local culture. In every corner of the seaside restaurants, people reclined on open couches, sipping tea, and sharing laughter as the waves gently lapped over the rocky shores. The slower pace here was refreshing—a reminder to embrace each moment, to listen, and to be fully present. It was a blessing to learn from them that rest and relationships can bring a sense of peace that is often overlooked in busier parts of the world.
Our time here wasn’t about grand gestures; it was about being present, lending an ear, and offering a helping hand. It was about learning as much as teaching. As we spent time with locals and other travelers, I saw how our faith can bridge divides, creating connections across cultures and languages. We were blessed by the kindness of strangers who, though they may not have shared our beliefs, shared our common humanity.
Dahab taught me something profound: that God’s love meets us wherever we are, even in the most unexpected places. In the beauty of the desert meeting the sea, I was reminded of how God meets each of us exactly where we are in life, with both our deserts and our seas—our struggles and our triumphs.
Whether it’s through a simple smile or a heartfelt conversation, my prayer is that our time in Dahab left seeds of hope and encouragement. Sometimes, all it takes is a moment of connection to show that God is working, even in the smallest ways.
